Powerpoints
In today's lecture we dicussed the role a powerpoint presentation has in a classroom. Powerpoints can be used as an interctive tool to include students in the teaching process. It is important to note though, that powerpoints need to be minimal in writing and have clear and easily to read font. Pictures are great to include in a presentation, we just need to be sure to crowd the slide so the focus isn't taken away from the main point the powerpoint is trying to make.

Podcasting
In today's lecture we learnt about podcasting and the purposes of podcasting. During the lecture we managed to listen to a range of podcasts done by others, and then we had a go at making our own podcasts. I was actually quite surprised at how easy it was to make a podcast and upload it onto the internet. I can see podcasting as being a useful educational tool as another way for students to present their work, and as it is so easy to do it is quite managable to do in a classroom aswell.

Lecture 2
Today's lecture revealed to me what Wiki actually is. Before today's lecture I hadn't heard of this term before and didn't know what it was. My understanding of a Wiki is that it is like a blog, in that people can add, edit and create new information for others to see. In a classroom this can be used to encourage students to share their ideas with one another, it could also be used as a form of communication between parents and teachers and within the staffing community of the school. I think that using a Wiki in a classroom is a great way to incoperate technology in students learning.

From today's lecture I was reminded of the importance of teaching students the appropriate researching skills when searching for information on a search engine. Researching is a skill that needs to be taught to children by the teacher to help them with their learning. Teachers need to teach students where to look for information, how to search for information and most importantly reinforcing internet saftey.
